FINANCE AND SPONSORSHIP

Why is “finance” featuring on
every agenda at all meetings, be it a sports meeting, social or political or for
that matter religious. It is a
fact that all organised institutions can only survive and finance is essential.
There are certain institutions
which exist mainly by contributions from its own members e.g. religious or
private clubs. Sporting organisations have to depend, to some extend, on fun
raising and sponsorships.
It is also a fact that big
business establishments are controlled by the minority ruling this country and
the involvement of sponsorship to “Black” sporting organisations is determined
on the master/servant concept.
If any person or organisation is
prepared to call the “tune” of master then the recently formed conglomeration
of sponsor would after careful
scrutiny of their requirements grant or connive and turn you down as you may not
project their line and ideas of multi-nationalism.
Be as it may, sight must not be
lost of the fact that the multiplication of power of the oppressed people is in
multitudes of millions annually and simple arithmetic
tells me it is a matter of “time”.
“Time” not for the oppressed but
the oppressor is fast ticking away and the likes of Treuricht, I am pleased are
sleeping through a silent revolution. This revolution in it’s silent form is
gaining such speed and momentum that one will not be able to compare it, with
that overnight collapse of the Shah of Iran.
Yes, hardship and difficulties
will arise but that sacrifice is the price to be free; of all shackles of
apartheid and oppression.
In the meanwhile we have to
survive and exist under extreme and turbulent circumstances. But as people with
faith in the Almighty God we must march in exaltation with supreme effort and
sacrifice. The will to share our resources and finances will make us the
greatest nation; unique in its very existence.
We do not challenge the
authority of our religious books, likewise we must not challenge the authentic
struggle and whatever strategy is adopted from time to time and so long as it is
based on ideology of non-racialism we must join in and be part of the greater
struggle; for in unification we shall overcome.
However, as part of the
country’s consuming public it is our right to demand sponsorship and more recent
exhausted Budgets and publicity, mileage ect. ect are feeble and lame. They must
be taken-up to be included in their next budget and will be interesting material
to assess certain commercial houses and their double
standards.
Sponsorship to the NPSL was
precipitated with the idea of using a “Black” organisation to fraudulently gain
entry into the world arena of international sports. Now, Dr Geritt Viljoen comes
up with a novel idea of forming their own “SACOS”, to justify WHAT? Dr . Viljoen
, you may be giving us inferior education but remember we are not
dumb.
No amount of collaboration and
bribery will buy status in the outside world. For three centuries you have played
games, no more, BAAS.
Banning, detentions and deaths
don’t deter us anymore. A child is born everyday to be a leader of truth,
justice and equality. For every one leader lost in detention, Almighty God replaces three, and who on earth is
going to deny that, not even REAGAN.
Mr. George Thabe has finally
placed a moratorium on tours after failure of his efforts and now camouflages
his short-comings by further complicating his philosophy of wanting to work with the African Football Confederation(CAF).
Mr. Thabe…..keep on trying.
Every sportsman involved in the
struggle must play their part actively and financially to make a “dearest to the
heart”matter. For in giving shall we receive ten folds and particularly when it
is most needed. Too many players and officials are paying lip service. We find
our sportsmen spending funds on luxuries but when called upon once to contribute
to their organisation we get the moans and groans.
In order to be successful and in
the absence of sponsorships, every sports loving person should without
hesitation get involved, and make possible every event of
that code, that is struggling. We are perhaps unable to find a
few with large amounts but we certainly can find many with smaller
contributions.
So, in the final analysis
together we work and together we march forward.
WE shall overcome.
