LENASIA SOCCER ASSOCIATION
On the 24th July 1957, a meeting was convened at the residence of Mr. Dalia Magoo
(Hut No: 40 – Old Camp Lenz) with the sole purpose of establishing a Football
Association within the area.
The meeting was attended by 3 clubs, namely, Lenz United, Century and Orientals. Mr.
Jimmy Padayachee was elected as chairman and Mr. Pali Naidoo as Secretary. The
meeting agreed that an association be formed, a constitution be drafted and the
association should seek affiliation to the Transvaal Indian Football
Association.
The inaugural meeting was held on the 25th August 1957, at the residence of Mr.
Magoo. The clubs present were Socials, Century and Orientals. The office bearers
elected were as follows:

Thus the first based institution in Lenasia came into being.
Armed with spades and shovels officials, players and residents set out to make the
first playing field (where the present CIVIC CENTRE is situated today) in the
area for their only form of entertainment.
In 1960 the “NEW TRANSIT CAMP” was occupied by families form the Sophia town and
New Clare area. Prominent residents the in “New Camp” were approached to form
football clubs and affiliate to the association. As a result Bluebells FC and
Daffodils FC were established. The Association made steady progress and on the
11th September 1960, the first football fixture was played at the Lenasia Sports Grounds (The present Lenasia Soccer Stadium).
